A police detective in Lombard, Illinois, will not face charges after he shot and killed a robbery suspect who had wounded him in a shootout. DuPage County State's Attorney, Robert Berlin, announced that Detective Ryan Postel was legally justified in his actions during the robbery investigation of a retail store on December 8 th. The suspect, Pierre Thompson, was shot multiple times, including in the right chest, upper left arm, and right back, according to a report by Fox News on March 2, 2023. During the incident, Detective Postel commanded Thompson to show his hands, but instead, Thompson raised a pistol and fired six shots at Postel and his partner.
